Episode 30: Titanic Survivors

Hello and welcome back to Breakfast with Mom! This is the 112 anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. I won’t bore you with the story of the Titanic but I do want to give a brief summary of the Titanic story just in case there are some out there that have been living under a rock their whole life- the luxury liner RMS Titanic, launched on May 31, 1911, and set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton en route to New York City on April 10, 1912, with 2,240 passengers and crew on board. On April 15, 1912, after striking an iceberg, Titanic broke apart and sank to the bottom of the ocean, taking with it the lives of more than 1,500 passengers and crew. On board were some of the world’s richest people, JP Morgan, John Jacob Astor IV, Margaret Brown and Isidor Straus, co-owner of Macy’s, and his wife, Ida just to name a few.

I will not be telling you about them, instead I wanted to highlight a party of 4 women traveling together in cabins B-3, B-5 and E-10. These women would survive on lifeboat 2.
